Capitol – Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
in 1906, when then President Theodore Roosevelt dedicated the capitol, he described it as “the handsomest building I ever saw.” The Italian Renaissance-style building exhibits artwork exemplifying Pennsylvania’s colorful history and grand tradition. The capitol building has a 972-foot vaulted dome, which models St Peter’s Basillica in Rome, and is visited by hundreds of thousands of people each year.
